A QR Code for a Story Still Seeking Its Future

On the occasion of Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Lourdes, a new chapter has begun to unfold for 20, Esplanade du Paradis.

As Lourdes welcomes the Holy Father this week, a QR code has been installed on the building at 20, Esplanade du Paradis.

A small, almost discreet sign, yet one that now allows those passing by the hotel to access its history directly.

Behind this code lies this website: a space dedicated to telling the family history of the property, revisiting its past, presenting the years that followed its closure, and explaining the complex legal situation surrounding it today.

For a long time, this story remained in archives, legal documents, family memories, and records accumulated over the years.

Today, we have chosen to bring it into the light.

The Pope’s visit to Lourdes naturally draws attention to the city and its heritage. For us, it is also an opportunity to remind people that beyond the well-known landmarks and the great stories, other forms of heritage are also seeking to be preserved and given a future.

The QR code thus creates a simple link between the building, its history, and those who may one day help give it a new lease of life.

The building is still here.
So is its history.
Perhaps now is the time to open a new chapter.
